"You Never Know" - Inquiry Learning in a Year 5 Laptop Classroom

Jessica Raeside, Samantha Gooch, Lorrayne Brooks-Dowsett

Session Outline

We will share our experiences of teaching Inquiry based units of work in a 1-1 Laptop Classroom and the evolution of the use of IT to extend the learning experiences of the students. Students are beginning to reflect on their own learning through their e-portfolios, which also provides us with an alternative form of assessment. We will look at how both learning support students and extension students have benefited by being part of the 1-1 laptop program. We are all united in our commitment to and passion for developing programs that heighten student involvement in activities that lead to deeper understanding, and develop the foundations of thinking habits and problem solving skills. This has been an exciting year for us and we hope to share some of this excitement and learning with you.
