Session Outline

We will explore some of the possibilities of using a video camera with students in the classroom. This will include a practical demonstration on the use of chroma-key (green screen) technology. This is a technique where backgrounds can be altered with images or video to suit the nature of the video. This can be achieved simply and cheaply to enhance learning within the curriculum.

Dean's Bio

Dean Pomfrett has been a teacher for more than 20 years and been a keen teacher of media for just about as long, having held executive positions at the Australian Teachers Of Media (ATOM) NSW. During his teaching career he has presented at conferences and written papers on the use of video technology in classrooms and won numerous awards involving student film making. He has also been a judge on various film festival panels.

Outside of the classroom he is involved in television production, having produced a children's show on cable television and developed the current daily children's television program for the Nine Network.
